Tod
Preston is Senior Advisor for Congressional Relations & Strategic Outreach
with Population Action International (PAI). In this capacity, Mr. Preston leads
PAI’s advocacy
and outreach activities on Capitol Hill. He also is a co-author of
The
Shape of Things to Come: Why Age Structure Matters to a Safer, More Equitable
World,
a 2007 PAI report that examines how a country’s age
structure impacts its stability, governance, and economic development.
Tod has over a decade of legislative and communications experience on Capitol Hill and in the Executive branch. Prior to joining PAI, he worked as a congressional liaison and speechwriter at the U.S. Department of Commerce. Tod worked for seven years as a legislative aide in the House of Representatives, including service as legislative director for Congressman Rod Blagojevich (D-Illinois), now the Governor of Illinois. From 1995 to 1999, he served as a legislative aide for Congresswoman Nita Lowey (D-New York), currently the chair of the House State-Foreign Operations Appropriations Subcommittee. From 1993 to 1995, he worked on the former House Merchant Marine and Fisheries Committee handling environmental and natural resource issues.
Tod graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in government from Connecticut College in 1991. He is a member of Phi Beta Kappa.
