Leiwen Jiang, PhD, Senior Demographer

Leiwen Jiang joined PAI as a Senior Demographer in 2008. His research portfolio
has involved methodological work on improving demographic components of
integrated climate/environment assessment models and exploring the environmental
implications of demographic dynamics. Before joining PAI, he was an assistant
professor at Brown University, working as a Co-Principal Investigator of
Population-Environment Program. Holding a PhD degree in environmental sciences
(specified in demography) from the University of Amsterdam, he has conducted
research on population and climate/environment interactions for more than a
decade at Max Planck Institute for Demographic Research, Indiana University,
Peking University, and Vienna Institute for Demographic Analysis. He was also a
consultant to UNICEF and the World Bank, and collaborator of Asian MetaCentre
for Population and Sustainable Development Analysis. He is now an adjunct
professor at Brown University and Peking University, guest researcher at
International Institute for Applied System Analysis (IIASA) and China Academy of
Sciences.
