Meet Our Fall 2011 Interns

Nancy Cooey, Library Intern 
Nancy is originally from Pensacola, FL and is currently seeking a Masters of Library and Information Studies from Florida State University.  She received a BA in English and minors in Art History and Sustainability Studies in 2010 from the University of Florida.  Since beginning FSU’s program, she has enjoyed learning more about processing archival material, increasing access to information through digital libraries, and addressing the needs of library patrons.  With her experiences and education in the library field she plans to pursue a career in archives and special collections, seeking to make culturally significant materials more accessible to everyone.

Denise Holman, Resource Development Intern
Denise, who hails from Chicago, IL, is a Senior Health Management major at Howard University. With an expected graduation in May 2012, Denise intends to continue on pursing her education in Public Health and plans to work with teenagers on knowing about their sexual health. When she is busy with coursework, her scholarship, or trying to save the world, Denise likes to hang out with friends and venture around our nation’s capital.

Patrick Morrisey, Film Intern
Patrick is a Washington, D.C. native and a graduate of Georgetown University.  He recently received a Masters of Film Production from University College Dublin in Dublin, Ireland, where he focused on documentary films and post-production.  He’s also studied in Italy and Turkey, and taught English classes at local elementary and high schools there.  He hopes to use his background in documentary film and video help raise awareness for various progressive causes, and women’s health being one of them.

Aurora Munoz, Communications Intern
Aurora recently graduated from Swarthmore College where she majored in Sociology and Anthropology. Since taking the course, “Politics of Population”, she has followed issues of population and is excited to join PAI’s team. She currently has a position helping immigrants gain equal access to health care in DC. She hopes one day to complete a Masters in Public Health with a concentration in global reproductive health.

Stephanie St. Clair, Resource Development Intern 
Stephanie is from Chicago, Illinois. She is a senior at George Washington University majoring in Human Services and minoring in Sociocultural Anthropology. Stephanie went to high school in London, England and loves to travel. She hopes to visit every continent at least once in her lifetime. Stephanie studied abroad in Cape Town, South Africa in the spring of 2011. While in Cape Town Stephanie worked with Shawco Education tutoring children in the townships outside of Cape Town. After graduation Stephanie hopes to work for a non-profit organization that focuses on helping women and or children in Africa.

Carlos Tchinda, Finance & Administration Intern
Carlos is from Cameroon. He received a Bachelors of Law degree from the University of Douala. Upon his arrival in the USA, he was attracted to the field of finance. As a result, he plans to sit for the Certified Public Accountant examination in the state of Maryland, To achieve that goal, he is taking accounting and business courses at Montgomery College to meet the requirements to sit for the CPA exam.
