PAI and Rachel’s Network Highlight Links Between the Environment and Women’s Health

PAI was proud to partner with Rachel’s Network on their annual members meeting in March in Washington, DC, entitled “Population 7 Billion: Finding Balance on a Crowded Planet”.  Rachel’s Network promotes women as impassioned leaders and agents of change dedicated to the stewardship of the earth. True to their pioneers’ mission, Rachel Carson, the Network continues to build productive alliances among nearly 100 members who care deeply about the environment, health, and women’s empowerment.

Two of PAI’s board members, Ms. Vicki Sant and Ms. Pam Bevier, are members of the Network. PAI’s President Suzanne Ehlers serves as an Environmental Leadership Liaison. The annual members meeting, with a topic so closely aligned with PAI’s mission and work, featured several PAI staff, including Roger-Mark De Souza, VP Research and Director of the Climate Initiative, as the opening night’s keynote “Planet at Capacity”; Esther Agbarakwe, a visiting Atlas Corps Fellow from Nigeria, on a panel of activists; and Cassie Mann, who leads PAI’s environmental engagement on the Hill, supporting key stakeholder visits with elected officials receptive to and interested in the linkages between the environment, women’s health and policy-making.
