Women at the Center – PAI goes to Portland

Through generous support from the United Nations Foundation, PAI co-hosted a dinner and networking event on September 27th in Portland, Oregon focusing on climate change, consumption and reproductive health, and the role of women and girls as agents of change. PAI partnered with the Oregon Environmental Council (OEC) to draw a sold-out crowd to the Portland Art Museum to talk about how we can advance policies, funding, and practices that protect reproductive health and our environment.

The event featured a screening of PAI’s short film, Weathering Change, as well as remarks from PAI’s own Suzanne Ehlers and Erik Assadourian of WorldWatch Institute. The event was moderated by OEC’s Executive Director, Andrea Durbin, and concluded with a lively discussion with more than one hundred local advocates and leaders from the non-profit, government, and donor community in Oregon.

To build on the themes of the event, PAI’s Suzanne Ehlers and OEC’s Andrea Durbin published an op-ed in The Oregonian on the intersections of climate change, gender and reproductive health. Suzanne also conducted an interview with Jim Mclaren on KEX radio. Listen to the interview here.
