Population, Reproductive Health, and Adaptation Finance

There is growing recognition of the importance of population dynamics for the challenges
and solutions associated with climate change. Population size, growth, composition,
distribution and mobility are constantly changing, and these changes affect our climate
and the ability of people to adapt to it. Women’s health, including access to voluntary family planning and reproductive health (FP/rh), is an important part of strengthening their capacity to adapt, and can promote changes in demographic trends and encourage sustainability. Therefore, climate adaptation planning and financing should include social sector adaptation strategies such as FP/rh.
