Dr. Attali currently serves as CEO of A&A, a Paris-based international consulting firm specializing in new technologies, and President of PlaNet Finance, an organization that supports microfinance institutitions across the globe.
Prior to these positions, he founded several organizations, including Action Contre la Faim; Eureka, a program supporting the development of new technology in Europe; and an international program of action against the 1989 disastrous flooding in Bangaldesh. He has advised the UN Secretary General on nuclear proliferation and was honored with the Corporate Citizenship award from the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in April 2011.
Dr. Attalai holds a PhD in economics and is a graudate of the Ecole Polytechnique, the Ecole des Mines, the Institut d’Etudes Politiques and the Ecole Nationale de l’Administration. He taught economic theory at the Ecole Polytechnique, the Ecole des Ponts et Chaussées and the University of Paris-Dauphine. He has received honorary doctorates from several foreign universities and is a member of the Universal Academy of Cultures. In addition, he has written 54 books translated into more than thirty languages, including essays (dealing with a wide variety of subjects ranging from mathematical economics, to music), biographies, novels, children’s tales and plays. He has been designated as one of the three most influential intellectuals in France and one of the 100 most influential worldwide.
